In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the Detroit Red Wings (31-13-9) coming in to this game riding a 3 game win streak square off against a ever so tough Pittsburgh Penguins team (31-15-8) as they look to keep the streak alive and continue the hot roll that they are on.
First period starts off all Pittsburgh as just 2 minutes into the game Patric Hornqvist scores his 15th of the season as he cleans up Kris Letang's garbage. As the period goes on the Penguins continue to dominate the Red Wings as Blake Comeau puts in his 12th of the season to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead late in the first to conclude the period.
To the Second Petr Mrazek making which is likely his final start with the Red Wings as Jimmy Howard has recovered from his injury, seems to be getting no help from his team as they just keep pilling up turnovers and creating scoring chances for the opposition. When 3 minutes in David Perron notches his 14th of the season to widen the lead to 3 now. With more turnovers by the wings and lack of defence Nick Spaling is able to score his 8th of the season making it 4-0 Penguins lead. But all is not lost as the Wings get to go on the power play wen Stephen Weiss scores his 7th of the season to trim the lead to 4-1 Pittsburgh lead over Detroit as the period comes to an end.
Third period and coach Mike Babcock has decided to make a change in goal hoping it can spark his team in this third period. As momentum shifts in the Red Wings favour leading shot total in this period 9-4 they are unable to put any of those 9 shots in the back of the net causing their 3 game win streak to snap as they lose this one to the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 final score.
