First Period its the Blackhawks who are pressuring as they try to get on the board first in this first period raking up the shots on net. Which they lead in a huge advantage of 17-6 in that first period. But none are able to find the back of the net as we end the first period.

Into the Second its Detroit who gets on the board firs as Tomas Tatar scores his 24th of the season from a nice set up by Darren Helm. But the Wings don't gain momentum for long as Chicago's Brandon Sadd Scores just 40 seconds later to tie this game back at 1's to end the second.

To the Third as the period winds down the speedster Darren Helm is able to break free and regain the Detroit lead with his 13th of the year to put the Wings up 2-1. But again not for long as less then a minute later its Kris Versteeg who notches his 11th of the year to tie the game back up a 2 and force this game into overtime.

In overtime neither team is able to get anywhere resulting in this game to go into a shootout. Where with a miss by Paval Datsyuk and a goal by Jonathan Toews pressure is on Detroit to tie it up. Which with their next shooter they due as Gustav Nyquist is able to get his attempt into the back of the net. But for Chicago they aren't lucky enough to regain the lead and put pressure on Detroit as sniper Patrick Kane misses. Then third round Tomas Tatar who scored the first goal of the game is sent out to be the next shooter for Detroit and he capitalizes putting all the pressure on Blackhawk forward Patrick Sharp to score or else it is a Detroit victory. Sharp goes dekes ..... but can't seem to get it past Howard a the Red Wings hold on to this one and snap their losing streak at 3 games as they beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 final score in a shootout.

Habs Blank Wings In Eastern Conference Standoff

In Detroit, Michigan the Detroit Red Wings (31-14-10) look to forget about their tough shootout loss to the Winnipeg Jets as they square off against Eastern Conference rivals the Montreal Canadians (37-14-5) who currently reside in first place in the Eastern Conference.

In the first both goalies looking as if they were zeroed in to start the game as even though both teams trade blows both Jimmy Howard (Detroit) and Carey Price (Montreal) push all pucks aside and leave this period with 0's in the goal column.

To the Second we go as both teams cranking it up a notch as both of the try firing all they can at each other resulting in a shot differential through two periods to be Canadians 21 Red Wings 18. But even though they are both still not able to get anything past both Howard and Price. As the score Remains 0-0 through two.

To begin the third still 0-0 when just 2 minutes left into the game Tomas Plekanec is final able to find the back of the net and break this scoreless game to give the Habs a 1-0 lead late into the third. Wings then desperate to get the goal back as the pull the goalie to try and generate the game tying goal, but its Max Pacioretty who nets his 26th of the season as he puts away the empty net goal with 10 seconds left in the game to seal of a victory for Montreal and hand Detroit their third straight loss with the final score of 2-0.

Winnipeg Beats Detroit in Shooout Thriller

In Detroit, Michigan the Detroit Red Wings (31-13-10) look to bounce back from a Rough their last time out and focus on the task at head. That is to beat a solid Winnipeg Jets (29-19-10) team. As Goaltender Jimmy Howard (Detroit) makes his first start since his injury.

First Period its the Jets who strike first Chris Thorburn scores his 6th of the season. But momentum is quickly changed as the Red Wings begin to throw everything on net as they go on the power play and Nick Kronwall is able to find the back of the net to score his 6th of the season as the game is tied at 1's to end the first.

In the second we go as the Red Wings go on the power play again as Darren Helm is able to score his 12th of the season from a nice feed by Tomas Tatar. Then Wings still pressuring it's the magic man him self Paval Datsyuk who scores his 16th of the season as the wings take a 3-1. But Winnpeg doesn't give up there as Blake Wheeler gets it past Howard to cut the lead to 3-2. With 9 minutes in to the second Drew Stafford flings the puck at Howard who bobbles it and allows it to reach the back of the net to allow the Jets to tie the game at 3's to conclude the second period.

To the third as the Jets go on the power play Andrew Ladd is able to blast one past Howard to put the Wings up 4-3. As the period winds down and Detroit down by 1 the wings begin to pressure as Datsyuk scores his 17th of the season and 2nd of the game to tie this game at 4's as this game needs extra time to decide the winner.

In overtime both teams eager to try and end it and walk away with two points but neither are able to make it happen resulting in the game to go into a shootout. In the shoot out Detroit selects Winnipeg to shoot first as but are unable to get it past Howard. But on the other end The Wings also can't find the back of the net which goes on for another 3 rounds where no one can deke it past the goalies. When in the 4th round Winnipeg brings the pressure as Drew Stafford gets it past Howard. So its all up to this if Detroit shooter Stephen Weiss isn't able to score then the Jets win but if he does the shootout goes on. Weiss begins to go towards Jets goalie Michael Hutchinson as he does a deke and shoots......... but cant get it past Hutchinson as Winnipeg takes this one in the shootout 5-4 final score.

As the period goes on the Penguins continue to dominate the Red Wings as Blake Comeau puts in his 12th of the season to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead late in the first to conclude the period.

To the Second Petr Mrazek making which is likely his final start with the Red Wings as Jimmy Howard has recovered from his injury, seems to be getting no help from his team as they just keep pilling up turnovers and creating scoring chances for the opposition. When 3 minutes in David Perron notches his 14th of the season to widen the lead to 3 now.  In Tampa, Florida the Detroit Red Wings (28-12-9) who have been on a six game winning streak, take on a ever so hot Tampa Bay Lightning (31-15-4) team in a battle for the Atlantic. Meaning the winner of this game takes first place in the Atlantic division, a place where both teams would like to be.

In the first period the Red Wings get off to a bad start with a no call hold of Riley Sheahan, results in the first goal of the night scored by rookie forward Cedric Paquette who scores is 7th of the season. Then Detroit finally settles down and looks for someone to try and light a spark for this team. When Darren Helm comes to answer the call and scores a nifty goal to beat Ben Bishop for his 9th of the season. But it is all for not as the Tampa Bay Lightning extend their home winning streak to 9 games and take over first place in the Atlantic division with the 5-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.

Florida's Clawing Attempts Not Enough For Red Hot Detroit Team

While the Detroit Red Wings are looking to capture first place in the Atlantic division with a win and a Tampa Bay Lightning loss.

In the first period the Red Wings looked to get of to a bad start when they started to take penalties early in the game. But yet it was still them who got on the board first with a short handed goal by Drew Miller off of a bad break for Florida when rookie Aaron Ekblad miss plays a clearing attempt by Detroit, which allow Miller to have a break away and put the wings up 1-0. Then a little over a minute later the Panthers gain momentum once the Detroit takes another penalty resulting in a 5-3 for the Panthers in which they capitalise with Aleksander Barkov scoring the power play goal. With Florida still on the power play forward Brandon Pirri sneaks one past goalie Petr Mrazek to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead to end the first.

To kick of the Second period it becomes all Red Wings from there where just 30 seconds into the game Henrik Zetterberg finds the back of the net for his 15th goal of the season to tie the game at 2's. Detroit then continues to pressure Florida in their zone forcing a costly turnover and a Luke Glendening goal to give the Wings a 3-2 lead mid way through the second period. The Wings then are able too capitalize two more unanswered scoring chances in the second with goals by former Panther Stephen Weiss and Luke Glendening who scores his second of the game forcing Florida goaltender Roberto Luongo (replaced by Al Montoya) out of the game after allowing 5 goals on 17 shots, and a 5-2 Red Wing lead. But the game is still far from over as the Panthers try to engage a spark as Detroit takes a bad penalty and Florida's Nick Bjugstad takes advantage to cut the lead to 5-3 to end the second.

In the third it is Florida pressuring all the way trying whatever they can to cut the lead down to one, as Brad Boyes answers the call ten minutes in and makes it only a 5-4 Detroit lead. As the game starts to wind down to a close with two and a half minutes to go the Red Wings take another bad penalty giving Florida and their ever so hot power play this game another opportunity, but this time they have an opportunity to tie up the game. Red Wings take down Minnesota in a Wild fashion in Detroit

In Detroit, Michigan the Detroit Red Wings (27-11-9) coming into this game riding a 4 game win streak, look to take down a struggling Minnesota Wild (20-20-6) team. In  what will be each teams last game of the season before the all star break.

In the first period it was a a pretty even game with the wings having a slight advantage on the score board with Temmu Pulkkinen scoring his first career NHL goal to start up the games first tally. Then came 2 quick goals from Mikko Koivu (Minnesota) to tie and Jonathan Ericsson (Detroit) to regain the lead to end the first.

Then in the second period it was all Red Wings as they look to close out the game and took full advantage scoring another 2 goals. Scored by young guns Gustav Nyquist and Xavier Ouellet forcing Minnesota to make a goalie change as Devan Dubnyk allowed 4 goals on just 10 shots on net, forcing them to roll the rest of the game with back up goalie Darcy Kuemper which seemed to be a good change in motivation Minnesota to stand tall the rest of the game to try and bring them back in the game.

In which the third period starts with Minnesota having a new goalie in net motivation swung their way in the third period with help from lack of deference and costly turn overs by Detroit causing them to derail in the third. Allowing Minnesota to come back into the came with three unanswered goals in the third scored by Thomas Vanek and Zach Parise scoring the second of the night and the game tying goal (from a costly turnover by Jonathan Ericsson) for Minnesota. Which forces the game to OT.

In the overtime period just like the majority of the game the Red Wings were out shot with a couple more turnovers by Detroit causing in an almost game winner off of none other then the man who was keeping the Wild in it the majority of the game Zach Parise looking for the hat trick but denied by Petr Mrazek, bringing the game to a shootout.

It all came down to the shootout in which Detroit hasn't done very well in all season looking for their second shootout victory of the season. First up is Parise for the Wild but it is stopped by Mrazek. Detroit then decides to go with the magic man himself Pavel Datsyuk to get them on the board and as Pavel does best he comes through for Detroit with a nice forehead to backhand goal. Up next for Minnesota is Koivu who had tallied their first goal of the game but again Mrazek is there to make the stop. All Detroit has to do now is score here to win the game or else Minnesota could get another chance to tie it up and the shooter Detroit decides to go with is is none other then Nyquist to try to end it on his bobble head night and he does as he dekes past Kuemper for the game. As the Red Wings Beat Minnesota in a Wild shootout Victory in Detroit.
